Just you

I know that this thought is the fabric of motivational posters galore,  but can we all just take a minute to give God credit for making us each as weird and intricate as we each individually are? You may not know it, but your somebody’s definition of special,  even if it just seems like his, for now. This whole world has so many people in it, and it’s silly to think how much time we each spend griping and whining when under grace, the peace in being free to follow God’s will for your life is literally infinite. You don’t have to prove jack. It’s already been done. It’s kinda like what I imagine sipping a Shirley temple on the beach with Farrah Faucett would feel like, except those beachy waves belong to Jesus. His claim over your life, and a lot of peace,  regardless of how many Shirley temples. It’s a fracking miracle, for fricks sake, and that is why we have the cross, but its crazy because its like, infinity times infinity awesome for everyone, all at once, then and someday, all at the same time, and pretty much like a well wrapped Christmas present it was done so tight.  That’s what kind of awesome salvation is. Like a freaking piñata. Like a mother flipping circus, mkay? And I bet you $5 we don’t even know the half of it.

I am a second-grade teacher and pastor-to-be who loves people. I spend my weekends with friends or wandering the museums of DC alone and with a journal, trying to put words on the places of the soul that still feel wordless. I spent most of my days at school trying to learn patience through my students and running on sheer nerdy passion. I follow Jesus Christ, and savor that as my most important identity--that I am a child of God, as are infinite others, regardless of their other identities. Christ is my one thing.
