Riot (this one contains a some profanity, but for debatably good intentions)

What exactly do we mean when we talk of change?

In the words of someone younger and wiser than I:

Let’s f### sH## up!

In the words of someone older and wiser than I:

Tis better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all.

In the words of Christ:

“He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart

Lest they see with their eyes,

And understand with their heart,

And turn,

And I would heal them.” (John 12:40)

In my words:

Can’t we all just stop being jerks? Isn’t it enough to just fix it, be happy, and move forward??

And in the words of the world:

Zealout. Rabble-rouser. Victim-complex. Crazy. Dead man/woman walking. Killjoy. Loser. Bastard. Worthless. Pathetic. Freak. Sissy. Silly. Ignorant. Poorly educated. Cripple. Stalker. Borderline. Bitch. Lousy. Crook. Thug. Thief. Liar. Whore.

And my reaction:

Well…at least we’ve got the whores? #jesus

I am a second-grade teacher and pastor-to-be who loves people. I spend my weekends with friends or wandering the museums of DC alone and with a journal, trying to put words on the places of the soul that still feel wordless. I spent most of my days at school trying to learn patience through my students and running on sheer nerdy passion. I follow Jesus Christ, and savor that as my most important identity--that I am a child of God, as are infinite others, regardless of their other identities. Christ is my one thing.
